Well it’s certainly been an exciting couple of months. We’re gearing up for our engagement party and are just about to book our wedding venue!

It’s so easy to jump the gun and start looking for a venue, but there’s a bit of work to do first. Here are my top 3 tips before you start planning your wedding:

1. Set your budget. Once you’ve done that, there’s some great online tools available that can get you started in planning your wedding. A few favourite websites are The Knot and Wedding Wire. Our team at EMANATE Events can also work with you to customize your budget and reflect accurate prices of the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver vendors.

2. Determine your guest list. When budgeting and looking for a venue, it’s important to know how many guests you’ll be inviting. Tip: Do this with your partner and remember to run it past your parents if they’re involved in anyway.

3. Understand your style and type of wedding you’d like to have. Now women generally have a good idea about what type of style they’d like. But it’s a good idea to ask your partner as well and ask how involved they’d like to be in the process. At EMANATE Events we like to give our clients an exercise to understand their style and vision. This helps when we identify their priorities and move forward in creating their vision.

Once you’ve done that, now the real planning begins!

Planning a wedding can certainly be a daunting task. Specializing in wedding’s and having over 10 years of event experience, we’re happy to work with you at any step along your planning phase. Contact us for a complimentary consultation to learn how we can work together.
